In order to work in the UK, nurses and midwives must register with the NMC. There are three sections in the NMC register.

MIDWIVES
SPECIALITY COMMUNITY PUBLIC HEALTH NURSES (SCPHN)
The nurse part of the register is divided into
four fields of practice.
Adult nursinG
Mental health nursing
Children’s nursing
Learning disabilities nursing

The nurse or midwife sections of the registry may be applied for if you meet our requirements. The NMC recommends that you register as an adult nurse if you have received general nursing training. If you wish to register for more than one section or field of practice, you should apply at the same time. Following registration, you will be able to work in the private healthcare sector or in the National Health Service (NHS).
